Sadhya-Nirdesh — Six Principal Statements

These six utterances — the Sadhya-Nirdesh — are the supreme philosophical declarations of Maa Anandamayi. They are the living seed of all her teachings on Absolute Consciousness.

There is only One Brahma — there is no second.

Where there is the awareness of One Brahma, nothing is left out.

To find oneself is to find God; to find God is to find oneself.

Everything is God.

भगवान् है – जो कहो वही;

God is — whatever you call It; One and Infinite.

The Self is — 'that which is', 'as it is' — 'Ya Ta'.

Her Consciousness — Unlike Any Other

Maa Anandamayi's consciousness was not a spiritual achievement — it was her natural, birth-given state. Four qualities, confirmed across 58 years of independent accounts.

Maa's Consciousness नित्य · Nitya-Siddha Eternally established अखंडित Akhandita · Undivided आनंद · Ananda Unconditional bliss शून्य-स्थित Shunya · Creative void सहज · Sahaja Effortlessly natural "Aham Brahmasmi — as lived reality"

Shunya-Sthita

Seated in the creative void — zero containing the infinite.

Unconditional bliss — the intrinsic nature of pure consciousness.

International Society of Maa Anandamayi Consciousness

ISMAAC is dedicated to the study, preservation, and worldwide sharing of the extraordinary consciousness of Maa Anandamayi (1896–1982). Unlike general devotional organisations, our focus is singular: the nature of consciousness itself as lived and demonstrated by this unique being.

Drawing from primary sources — the four volumes of Vachanamrit, the eight parts of Shri Bhagvat Guru Geeta, and the philosophical text Ek Vyakti Shunya Chetna Ki Leela Katha — we present her consciousness not as a doctrine, but as a living reality to be explored.

Maa's Sacred Utterances

"When the sense of self and the experience of consciousness become one with Brahman's nature — then it is revealed."

— Bhagvat Guru Geeta, Part 8

"This body sees what is. There is no filter of personal preference, no coloring of likes and dislikes. What is, simply is."

— Bhagvat Guru Geeta, Part 7

"Nityasutra — the eternal thread — is the unbroken connection between the individual soul and the universal consciousness."

— Bhagvat Guru Geeta, Part 8

"Man's only duty is to know his own Self. All other duties dissolve when this one is fulfilled."

— Maa Anandamayi, Vachanamrit Vol. I
